Plumbing failures in Iplex/ Typlex pipes

Typlex pipes, manufactured by Iplex Australia Pty Ltd were installed in thousands of homes in WA between mid 2017 and mid 2022. Following a series of plumbing leaks with these pipes, the government has investigated and has prepared a response for affected homeowners.

Owners of homes with Pro-fit Typlex 1050 plumbing pipes, made by Iplex Australia and installed between 2017 and 2022, may register for a free leak detector unit.  This will turn off the water supply to the home if a leak is suspected, thereby minimising the potential damage.  More information and registration for these units can be found here.

There is more information about the government’s response on this website with further links and assistance within the information.

Homeowners having problems with plumbing pipes that are not the subject of this Industry Response ( outside the specific dates or a brand other than Typlex 1050) can find out more information from Consumer Protection

If you purchase a home which contains the pipes at risk of failure, the Real Estate Agent has a duty to disclose this information prior to you writing up your offer. These obligations are explained in this document from the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.
